HAVE YOU EVER WATCHED A BLACKSMITHING DEMONSTRATION AND WANTED TO LEARN THE ANCIENT ART OF BLACKSMITHING YOURSELF OR THOUGHT IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT PRESENT FOR A FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND, WELL NOW YOU CAN
On this course you will learn a few of the key blacksmithing techniques which are the foundations for creating beautiful metalwork.
Over a 3 to 4 hr one to one lesson we will develop your skills and right from the beginning you will be getting your hands dirty not just watching.
You will experience the thrill of working with hot metal and discover the joys of seeing completed ironwork you have created with your own hands.
Courses include all tools and materials and safety equipment will be provided but please wear sturdy shoes/boots and old clothes. No Fleeces please.
Both complete novices and experienced students are welcome.We are pleased to see more and more women coming on our courses blacksmithing is not only for men! Why not try it out. Most courses are held on Saturday / Sunday mornings, just ask for the date you would like and we will check the diary.
Students can expect to make a mouse tail fire poker which includes tapering, bending, twisting, or a bush craft knife (made from a farriers rasp) or for those under 16 a small viking style knife( more of a letter opener),and if you have specific aspirations just ask. And most of all I will try and make it fun!
